Ozone is a naturally occurring gas created from oxygen atoms. The oxygen molecule is made up of 2 oxygen atoms. Energy is used to trigger 2 oxygen atoms to connect a third, resulting in Ozone. This happens in nature during lightening storms, the fresh scent you smell after a storm, is because Mother nature has been creating Ozone and cleaning the air. When the Ozone comes in contact with a pathogen, one of the oxygen atoms seperates pierces the cell wall and destroys it. Leaving behind only O2 or oxygen.
